Thoughts 05 - Passion

Arguably one of the greatest drivers and differentiators that allows good to be come great.

Many of us go through life, when faced with something as cruel as reality, passion is often the first one that gets forgotten.

It can be so unrealistic to expect that we have the time and means to search for our passion, let along be allowed to develop it or even to have fun while make a living out of it. So we grab onto what we know and what we thought is needed in order to be happy, financial freedom is often on the top of the list. Have you questioned yourself, “what must I give up to get there?” Or “What happens once I have it?”

When it comes to nature vs nurture debate, nothing in life is certain, what we are exposed to throughout our journey from inception helps shaping who we are and what we have affinity to. There’s some truth in the saying “play with the cards you are dealt” where you can only deal with what you know. However, while many may be playing the game of BlackJack and chase 1x to 1.5 returns hand by hand if you get lucky, only very few chose to learn and perfect world class magic tricks with their cards. That being said, I haven’t said which of the above is the right way, we will only know if we could find out whether they feel fulfilled and happy.

Before the analogy goes out of hand, what I have been meaning to say is, when we are hit with realistic factors from all direction, we often forget to rethink our approach and realign our goals in life.

What can we do to make our lives more meaningful?

What do we need in order to get to where we want to be?

What happens once we get there?

Recently watched the newest Pixar movie “Soul” the other day. Without giving away too much in case you have not seen the movie, the protagonist, Joe, is a very talented jazz musician who teaches at school. He had to go through life-altering experiences in order to realize that he already possesses what he’s been killing himself to search for all this time.

In many ways, wines and spirits are the same way. Hundreds of billions of bottles gets consumed every year, only a handful is being appreciated as they have been intended.  There are stories to be told by every bottle that’s often not heard because there are “more important” things that occupy us.

VinoZen Academy was created around the passion to appreciate finer things in life in hopes to help others experience as how I have experienced.

With that, I am very excited to announce that starting this September, we will be offering in-class WSET sessions again!  Although online learning is still a very viable way to obtain knowledge, my heart is still with being able to connect with my students on a personal level through these magical elixirs.  VinoZen Academy welcomes you again while we are “Looking at the World, One Glass at a Time.”
