Clos Fourtet 2012
Bright vibrant purple hue on a dark core but somehow has an underlining maturity tone. It has a fragrant vanilla violet nose with the intensity of freshly made grape jam, blueberry jam, and strawberry jam. This wine is starting to show its matured side with hints of earth, mushroom, white truffle, autumn leaves, and sun-dried tomatoes. It still keeps evolving in the glass and I couldn’t stop smelling it to uncover more layers. On the palate it shows a fantastic elegance of a classic Right Bank Bordeaux with medium body and medium tannins brought to life by its fresh acidity. More mineralogy and chalky earth show up in the palate bringing out the red and black fruits like they were tasted freshly picked. Really long finish of fruit and graphite. Just cannot get enough! Enjoyable on its own or with red meat dishes or roasted poultry.
