Thoughts 02 - First Encounters

Do you remember your very first encounter with wine?
How many remember what wine it was?
Many first encounters, including my own, with uninitiated palates, were most likely unimpressed.

Why do I say that?

It is simply because we did not yet know what’s to be impressed of. They probably smelled great but tastes astringent and acidic. For some perhaps luckier ones, the very first wine encounter was something sweet and fruity like a Moscato, Gewürztraminer, a Californian Red Blend or an Australian Shiraz. Noticed how I defined lucky first encounter as not those who had Chateau Lafite Rothschild or Romanée-Conti as the very first wine to taste? In fact, it would be extremely unlucky to have tasted those wines as the very first wines to taste, especially if they were from recent vintage that were poured straight out of a freshly opened bottle. How disappointing of an experience must it have been?

How about the first conscious encounter with wine?
By “conscious”, I mean when you experience with intent, which would most likely require a certain level of guidance and knowledge.
Once you have had that memorable experience, wouldn’t you want to pass on that passion and excitement to others? When the time comes, will you be able to fully utilize it?

How often do we get that chance?

VinoZen Academy was founded to create the opportunity for you to appreciate and send it forward. We want to take the personal approach to guide you through your journey in wines and spirits so you can take your passion to the next level.

It has been a year since the lockdown, I miss the time to personally interact with all the passionate students. I look forward to finally be able to do that again.
